The Modern storyteller of Australian country

Alice Benfer’s passion for country music was nurtured by her upbringing in the Australian bush. From the age of seven, she sang traditional songs, quickly developing a love for both performing and songwriting. As she grew, Alice honed her craft by entering talent contests and playing at country venues, building confidence along the way and earning awards that deepened her dedication to music. After graduating from the CMAA Academy of Country Music in 2014, she reaffirmed her commitment to the traditional country style. Based in Gympie, Queensland, Alice is celebrated for her powerful performances and heartfelt songwriting. Alice Benfer’s album, “Voices from The Bush,” beautifully captures Australian stories through music and highlights her talent for storytelling. Alice’s accomplishments include winning the Green Brother’s Peter Blundell Memorial Talent Search in 2021, earning the World Songwriting Award for “Saltbush Sally” in 2024, and collecting multiple awards at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2025. 

In 2026, Alice received further nominations and awards as well as the JobLink Plus Artist Accommodation Bursary, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to traditional country music. Alice Benfer’s latest traditional country song, “Saddle Dreaming,” is now available on all digital platforms. Produced by Sam Hawksley with lyrics by Gregory M Dillon and music by Alice, the track has dominated the Country Songs top 40 Chart for seven weeks. Alice recently earned the Tamworth Bush Ballad Award for Female Bush Ballad Of The Year and looks forward to sharing more music with fans who love her authentic style.
